What's in a Name?
We named this dynamic neighborhood "Charlotte's Oaks" to preserve the historic and unique nature of the site. In the early 1900s, Charlotte Wheeler Clowes owned and operated the very successful Clowes Dairy, which was no small feat for a woman of that day and age! Charlotte's historical home (the Clowes House) remains on the site and will be renovated in order to serve as the community's clubhouse. "Oaks" is a reference to the 64 mature trees we preserved on the site and which will provide shade and beauty to Charlotte's Oaks residents for years to come.
